Top Twelve Smartphone Apps for Real Estate Agents

The mobile market is and will continue growing at an extraordinary pace, statistics say.  The rise of the Smartphone (the hardware) and the app (the software) make it easy for you to become a mobile marketer – and we can help show you how.   Smartphones and their apps give convenience and “quick response” a whole new meaning.

What is an app?

An app – or application – is a helpful tool/program on your phone that makes everyday to-do’s easier. Apps are all about ease, convenience, organization (and, sometimes, fun). Most apps you can find for free or at a low cost. (Most are usually under $2 – and well worth it.)

Where to find apps

For most Smartphone operating systems, there are thousands of apps to choose.  Each Smartphone has an app store already downloaded onto it, where you can browse the different apps. Once you find an app that you are interested in, the next step is to download it.  (Note that you can at anytime delete an app if you have no use for it anymore; creating more room on your Smartphone for more app downloads.)

As the saying goes, “There’s an app for that…” So here is a list of the top twelve best apps for real estate agents to have in 2011:

  1. Vyoo.it  – Vyoo.it is a mobile marketing application (good on  any Smartphone) that was designed to make online property listings accessible via the mobile web. This is a great tool for agents to use with QR codes – design the QR code to direct people to the property listing you’ve set up for the mobile web through Vyoo.it.
  2. Yelp.com –The purpose of Yelp.com is to connect people with local businesses. This is a great place for you to market yourself and also a great tool to have when giving advice to a client about the area she’s thinking of moving to.
  3. DropBox – DropBox is a organization app that allows you to save everything to a special file on the DropBox server – as opposed to always transferring files from a flash drive or emailing them to yourself.
  4. Keynote – Keynote is a powerful presentation app where agents can create just about anything from basic charts to world-class presentations.
  5. SLYDial – SLYDial is a great app for those agents who need to just leave a quick message on a client’s phone. Dialing 267-SLYDIAL will direct you straight to a person’s voicemail.
  6. Realtor.com – If you have a profile on Realtor.com, you can stay connected to it on the go with the Realtor.com Smartphone app.  It’s another way to stay connected with clients and prospects, even when you’re on the go.
  7. Docusign – Docusign is a service that allows for the electronic signature of documents.  It’s really a must-have for agents, as it allows your clients to sign documents electronically, rather than in person or by fax.
  8. Tech Savvy Agent – The Tech Savvy Agent app keeps you posted and up-to-date with the latest technology for real estate agents.
  9. USTREAM – USTREAM is a live broadcasting platform. This is great for agents to upload live footage of an open house or vlog series.
  10. Dragon –Speak into your phone and this app will type out the text for you, whether it’s in an email form or a simple text. Dragon makes typing up to 5 times faster than on a normal keyboard.
  11. WordPress – If you have a blog, WordPress might be one of your online outreach posting spots.
  12. TechCrunch – TechCrunch is an app that just keeps you up-to-date on the latest technology and what is going on in the social media world.
